New RAID Data Recovery Courses added

17/02/2009
Computer Science Labs have recently introduced a programme of RAID training courses designed to introduce clients to the design, application and data recovery aspects of RAID and other multiple hard drive storage systems.

The first element of the training explains the theory of RAID and other multiple disk systems and details the various system configurations and their relative merits in terms of performance, data security, equipment outlay and fault tolerance. The management of such systems is also discussed including the choice of RAID configuration and parameters, the need for system records and documentation, and the correct responses to system incidents.

The second element focuses on data recovery from failed RAID systems. It details procedures for capturing the maximum system information to aid the recovery, processes for diagnosing the cause of failure and acquiring the correct parameter settings as well as techniques for recovering the data and reinstating the system. The various software applications and resources that can best be applied to RAID recoveries are also outlined. The theoretical content is supported by practical demonstrations and exercises throughout. All aspects of the training are based on unrivalled practical experience of commercial RAID recoveries.

The training is aimed both at those wishing to gain a greater understanding of an ever increasing aspect of today’s IT systems (possibly to aid the choice of RAID configuration best suited to the needs of their organisation), as well as those wishing to add data recovery from RAID systems to their client service portfolio.
