Latest News Worldwide requests for SERT assisted data recovery 10/12/2009 Since the worldwide launch of SERT, Computer Science Labs have had an influx of requests from data recovery companies to recover data from drives that have failed due to seized spindles. On receiving the drives we found that the data recovery companies had already attempted recovery of the data using a range of ineffective tools and techniques. These drives were then put back on the shelves to await a suitable data recovery tool such as SERT. The Lab Results SERT was effective on all of the faulty drives, enabling full and free rotation of the platters which can be restored in 100% of cases. Platter damage and read/write heads contributed to a recovery rate of 80%; a high rate considering that without SERT the data on those drives would have been irrecoverable.
