1 Day
Code: CSL3002
Duration: 1 Day
Pre-requisites: Basic HDD Recovery – CSL1001 and Introduction to RAID Systems CSL 2005
This training is intended to introduce clients familiar with the concepts of Data Recovery and RAID system architecture, to the procedures, techniques and applications for the repair of RAID systems and the recovery of data from them.
Learning Objectives:
(i) To explore the vital role of system information capture in the repair and recovery process;
(ii) To detail the type of information required and how it may be best obtained;
(iii) To outline the sequence of steps carried out for successful RAID recovery;
(iv) To examine the diagnosis techniques that can be employed to ascertain the cause of system failures;
(v) To examine the parameters to be established to effect recoveries and how they can be determined;
(vi) To explore the various leading applications available to aid the recovery process;
(vii) To explore other techniques and resources that may be required;
(viii) To give practical demonstrations to illustrate techniques;
(ix) To involve clients in practical consolidation exercises to enhance understanding;
The course will encompass the following aspects of RAID system recovery utilizing the appropriate diagnostic techniques or applications:
- Determining RAID array member disks
- XOR testing
- Identifying ‘Hot Spare’ disks
- Determining drive order
- Determining stripe size
- Determining stripe start sector
